Battery Storage

UNDERSTANDING BATTERY STORAGE

Traditional grid connected solar power systems are limited in that they can only provide electricity during the day and cannot provide power for your home during a blackout.

While solar production peaks during midday, energy consumption is highest in the morning and evening. With energy storage, you can save the energy you produce for when you need it most.

Solar Battery Storage

Installing a battery storage system (also known as hybrid solar power) will enable your grid connected solar power system to provide electricity to your home 24 hours a day via a suitably sized battery storage bank.

Your home will still be connected to the electricity grid which means you will be able to draw power from the grid in times of high demand and or low solar power production and conversely export surplus electricity to the grid in times of high solar power production.

JRL Advanced Solar offer a large range of quality battery storage solutions from small backup systems which can provide limited power in times of power outages to the latest lithium-Ion battery solutions capable of providing power to your entire home. Key Points to consider when purchasing a battery storage system

  1. Will the system provide electricity to your home if the electricity grid fails? A lot of systems on the market today will not provide power during a power outage. This is not so important in suburban areas when power outages are not common but maybe important if you live in more rural areas.
  2. How much power can the battery provide if the grid fails – some such as the sonnen can only provide a maximum of 1,300 watts whereas the LG Chem battery with either the SolarEdge StorEdge, Sungrow hybrid or SolaX can provide much more.
  3. How much actual power will the system provide i.e. after the depth of discharge has been taken into account.
  4. How many cycles will the batteries last for and how long is the warranty.
