Solar Hot Water

In Queensland we are blessed with an abundance of sunshine therefore it makes perfect sense to heat our hot water using the sun and the Rinnai range of solar hot water systems are perfect for doing just that.

There are a few different types of solar hot water system available:

Rinnai Prestige Solar Hot WaterRoof Mounted

Roof mounted systems are the most common type of solar hot water system available.

With a roof mounted system both the tank and collectors are installed on the roof and heat from the sun warms the water in the collector(s) which naturally rises into the storage tank. When you use the hot water, cold water flows into the bottom of the collector and the process starts again. This is known as thermo-syphon and as there are no moving parts with a roof mounted system there is less to go wrong.

Roof-mounted systems require a minimum roof pitch of 10 degrees in order to function or they can be installed on a suitably engineered frame.

Rinnai Stainless Steel Split System

Split system

With a split system the collector(s) either flat plate or evacuated tubes are installed on the roof where the water heated by the sun.

A sensor wire runs from the storage tank on the ground to the collector(s) and measures the water temperature at both locations – if the water in the collector(s) is warmer than the water in the tank the small circulating pump will turn on and transfer the hot water to the storage tank for use in the home.

Stiebel Eltron Heat PumpHeat Pump

Stiebel Eltron heat pumps do not rely on the sun as they extract heat from the air and transform that into hot water. They are ideal option is your roof is not suitable for solar and you are looking for an ultra efficient method of heating hot water.

Large Government incentives apply to the installation of your Stiebel Eltron heat pump system.
